Int. reactions against Turkish war on Kurds
by Roni Alasor / Lorin Sarkisian
Brussels, 24 January 2018 - Middle East Diplomatic (MED) - Turkey and its supported islamic terror-gangs killed many Kurdish civilians in the last days. Members of UN Security Council, US, EU Council, Germany, France, EU parliamentarians are deeply concerned and criticizing Turkish attacks in Kurdish enclave Afrin in Syria. World is asking Erdogan to fight against the Islamic gangs ISIS instead of targeting Kurdish civilians. But NATO is as always silent against Turkish massacres.
The terror attacks by Turkish army and Syrian Al-Qaida-islamic gangs against Kurdish civilians in Afrin have been discussed on a closed meeting of the UN Security Council. French Ambassador Francois Delattre said after the meeting that France’s call for Turkish authorities to act with restraint “was widely shared during the discussion” in the council.
US is criticizing Turkish-islamic attacks on Afrin from beginning while Russians’ Putin is cooperating with Erdogan who is saying officially that all actions are coordinated with his Russian colleague Putin.
EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini, Socialists and Democrats Group, the Group of the European United Left - Nordic Green Left in the European Parliament as well as many others also condemned Turkey and called for political settlement in Syria.
EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini said: “I’m extremely worried and I will discuss this, among other things, with our Turkish interlocutors” in coming days.
But many members of the EU Parliament are mobilised to make a campaign against EU’s soft policy towards Erdogan’s war against Kurds especially right now in Afrin.
Kurdish YPG key part of the battle against Daesh
Victor Bostinaru, Vice-President of Socialists and Democrats, the second largest political group in EP, urged Erdogan to “concentrate its efforts in combating Daesh terror, and most of all, to avoid any civilian casualties. Moreover, it is important to rapidly assess the humanitarian risks and guarantee full humanitarian access to the belligerent areas”.
“Finally, it is important to stress that The People`s Protection Units (YPG) has been a key part of the battle against Daesh in Syria; that achieving a sustainable peace in Syria is in Turkey’s own interest; and that a lasting political settlement can only be achieved by a UN-brokered process that will be seen as impartial by the Syrian people and will have the required international legitimacy”, added Bostinaru.
GUE/NGL Members of the European Parliament Takis Hadjigeorgiou, Martina Michels and Marie-Christine Vergiat “strongly condemned the Turkish invasion on Syrian Kurdistan (Rojava)” and asked for “immediate withdrawal of Turkish troops”.
More international campaigns and initiatives of European Parliamentarians in support of Kurdish Afrin are expected in the coming days.
However while Turkish Erdogan threatening Kurds also in Turkey, “you will be smashed if you try to protest”, Germany, the country accused that their Leopard tanks are used by Erdogan against Kurds is careful to criticize Erdogan but sharing their “concerns” ! French Macron who signed many economical-agreements with Erdogan just before terror against Afrin, plays with same “concerns”.
NATO is as always silent against Turkish massacres ... “Turkish Boris” of Britain and his PM May supporting the Turkish-islamic gangs terror and Bulgarian Borisov who is coordinating EU Presidency is silent.
